Bad North: Jotunn Edition is a brilliant mobile version of the super-interesting strategy hit. It’s well worth picking up when it’s full price, and right now it’s a couple of bucks cheaper than it usually is. Which makes it well, well, WELL worth picking up.
The game sees you defending your island home from Viking invaders. It mixes together ideas from tower defense and RTS games and squidges them into something that’s really entertaining. There’s depth here, but you don’t have to commit hours of your life to a single game.
There are roguelite elements here too. Lose a commander and they’re gone forever. Lose your island and it’s game over and you need to start all over again. The procedurally generated islands mean every time you start over, things are going to play out differently.
Bad North: Jotunn Edition mixes together a bucket of charm and another bucket of brutality into an effective and addictive strategy experience. When you die you’re going to be champing at the bit to jump back on that metaphorical horse and ride it into the heart of the oncoming invaders.
