Okay, fingers crossed you guys ‘n’ gals will forget all about my seriously questionable rhyming skills once you’ve had a chance to check out the bevy of beautiful iOS games we’ve got up for grabs this week. Because today is Valentine’s Day, we’ve gone all out and crammed our digital prize-bag chock-full of recent ‘indie’ App Store releases that the team here at iFanzine are absolutely loving at the moment.
Read on for a little more info on each and every game we’re giving away, or simply skip to the end of the post for full entry details…
Monster Wars & Zen Wars: The generous folks at Liv love being a part of our contests sooo much they not only passed along five promo codes for the newly released Monster Wars, but also threw in five more for last year’s crit-hit Zen Wars to sweeten the deal. My co-editor, Sean Koch, showered pretty much equal amounts of lurve on both games; you can find our Monster Wars review here and our in-depth Zen Wars review here.
Outfoxed: I’m currently playing my way through BillyGoat Entertainment’s Outfoxed in preparation for a full review later this week, so I’ll try not to spoil things by giving away too much here. Suffice it to say, this quirky 3D platformer which sees you taking control of a sly fox as he ruthlessly plunders the local chicken farm whilst spouting off zingy one-liners is positively oozing character and charm.
Four Hats: Remember the über-positive hands-on preview of Taco Graveyard’s App Store debut Four Hats we ran last week? Yeah, well, now that I’ve had a chance to really get stuck into it, I’m even more impressed by just how accomplished this slick little side-scroller really is! Lush graphics, inventive gameplay, and a toe-tappingly awesome soundtrack all amount to a must-have game. Stay tuned for a full review of this one very soon too!
Hyper Snake: Clawhammer-Games’ Hyper Snake is one of those indie iOS titles that releases to little fanfare but has ‘cult-classic’ written all over it. As the name suggests, Hyper Snake gives that ol’ mobile gaming classic Snake a modern make-over, revitalizing its traditional gameplay with fluid and responsive tilt controls, a more frenetic pace, utterly mesmerizing visuals, throbbing tunes, and a plethora of different game modes.
Raid Leader: Sometimes you’ll find success in the most unlikely places — cross-genre game design, for example. Red Zebra Games and Crescent Moon have churned out a very interesting RTS by taking inspiration from the “Raid,” a MMORPG staple, in Raid Leader. It may only be going for $0.99, but hey — no harm in gifting a copy to an RTS fan who might be on the fence!
