Transformers: Tactical Arena is the newest game on Apple’s subscription gaming service, Apple Arcade. It’s got stompy, shape-shifting robots and takes most of its cues from the likes of Clash Royale, and you can give it a go right now.
The game sees you battling it out against other players to try and take down their towers. There are three of those, and you need to balance attacking and defending if you want to succeed. Your units cost energy to deploy, as you might expect, and they’re represented as cards at the bottom of the screen.
There are a few twists to the micro-MOBA template here. For example, you can choose which form to send your elite soldiers into the fray in. Optimus Prime, for example, can be a robot or a truck, and will act differently depending on which you choose.
It might not be the most original game on Apple Arcade, but there’s a decent amount of fun to be had in Transformers: Tactical Arena. The extra frisson of playing against other real people is always welcomed too.
