The House of Da Vinci 3 Completes the Highly Acclaimed Puzzle Adventure Trilogy on iOS

It is done. The trilogy is complete.

Slovak-Czech developer Blue Brain Games has just launched The House of Da Vinci 3 on the App Store, rounding off one of the most acclaimed puzzle game series of the last half-decade.

In case you’ve never come across it, The House of Da Vinci games are 3D puzzlers set in renaissance Italy and starring historical figures like (the clue is in the name) Leonardo Da Vinci.

You play as Giacomo, Leonardo’s long-suffering apprentice. Your mission is to solve a succession of beautiful, intricate environmental puzzles spanning entire locations, or confined to delicate little handmade gadgets.

The plot of The House of Da Vinci 3 begins immediately after the events of The House of Da Vinci 2. That means Giacomo is in the soup, Leonardo is missing, and the mysterious Ordo lustitialis sect is still up to its old tricks.

As you pick your way through the game’s web of artfully constructed brainteasers, set across several different interior and exterior locations, you’ll gradually uncover the game’s secrets.

If you’re looking for a point of comparison, The House of Da Vinci has a lot in common with Fireproof Games’s The Room – with which it shares an impressive 4.8 App Store user rating.

It takes things a step further, however, with an ingenious time-travelling mechanic. Leonardo has provided you with a device called the Oculus Perpetua, which allows you to reach into the past and make changes that affect the present.

This makes The House of Da Vinci 3 a truly four-dimensional game in which you have to consider time-manipulation alongside the usual array of levers, dials, knobs, and switches.

The House of Da Vinci 3 looks like a fitting finale, continuing along the same lines but with an extra coat of polish and a few refinements to the controls, making them more intuitive than ever.

Plus, Blue Brain Games has pushed the boat out and used motion capture for the game’s cut-scenes, bringing a touch of Hollywood to proceedings.

You can download The House of Da Vinci 3 on the App Store now.

Versions for Switch, Android, PC, and Mac are coming soon.
