Tetris Beat is a Rhythm-Based Take on Tetris, Out Now on Apple Arcade

We’ve all played Tetris, whether it was on a monochrome Gameboy or in one of the billions of versions released since the game’s heyday. Well, now there’s another one. It’s called Tetris Beat, and it’s out now on Apple Arcade.

The game adds some intriguing rhythm action twists to the tetromino-dropping gameplay we’re all so familiar with. You need to drop along with the beat to get a better score, and there are penalties if you mess it up.

There’s also a classic mode that lets you just throw blocks around without having to worry about music, if that’s what you’d rather do. Here’s a trailer that shows off some of the new mechanics.

Tetris Beat is a slick, polished experience, and it adds some new dimensions to the game we all begrudgingly love. It’s still Tetris, but the new additions manage to keep things fresh without detracting too much from the gameplay.

The game features 18 songs, with more promised, three different modes, leaderboards and different difficulty levels as well. There’s a lot going on here, and the vast majority of it is real good.

If you’ve got an Apple Arcade subscription you can click here to download Tetris Beat from the App Store right this second.
