Okay, so calling an iOS game ‘addictive’ may seem like a tired cliché at this point – heck, if their descriptions are to be believed, every second title on the App Store is basically digital crack, right? – but in all honesty, I can’t think of a more appropriate adjective to describe Warner Skoch’s new twin-stick shooter...
It's all Greek to some of us, perhaps, but the title of Gamesare Studios' first iOS outing should be music to the ears of strategy game fans who prefer something deep and with a sci-fi bent. It may be billed as a "Casual 4X Strategy Game" but the depth and amount of its content will hardly seem casual to most iOS gamers.
You know how everyone's been clamoring for a sci-fi RPG lately? Fish Labs has an answer for that. While there's nary a hit point to be found in Galaxy on Fire 2, its superbly delivered story and characterization, incredible depth, and overall genre-defying appeal should fit the bill for anyone interested in seeing what happens when roleplaying and adventure are mixed with a little 3D space action.
The best way to describe Nine Pound Studios' first release might be "a MMORPG without the MMO." Its core mechanics should feel familiar to veterans of games in the World of Warcraft vein, but if you're not into the style of combat around which Xenome revolves, it'll probably feel like a long crawl despite its most interesting sci-fi world.
