Super Tank Blitz – the follow-up to the hugely popular Super Tank Rumble – is due to launch in July. Pre-registrations are live now.

Published by Smilegate Megaport and developed by Lumidia Games, Super Tank Blitz has an extremely promising precedent to follow. Super Tank Rumble, which was released in 2017, has been downloaded more than 20 million times.

It’s no surprise, then, that Super Tank Blitz doesn’t tinker too much with the formula. Instead, it augments what’s already there, adding new elements for a bigger and better experience.

The core gameplay sees you battling with other players in deathmatches, either 1v1 or 2v2, in your own homemade tank. These battles take place against a range of different backdrops.

And the tanks come in a huge variety of forms, since every player is free to choose their own wheels, weapons, and so on. You can think of it as a mobile gaming take on Robot Wars, except you’re inside the robot instead of standing at a safe distance holding a lame remote control.

Along with the tank customisation stuff there’s a new character collection feature, letting you choose from several different Commanders.

Each Commander has their own unique personality and backstory. For instance, Jack is (appropriately enough) a veteran of the Tank Corps who happens to love furry animals. His special attack is a shield.

MC Driver, meanwhile, is a rapper and DJ whose club was destroyed in battle. His weapon is an enemy-slowing woofer. And Ben is an infamous gang leader who turned to a life of crime after his mine was closed down. His special attack is a bomb that splits and multiplies.

As you upgrade these Commanders you gain access to new powers and components.

Super Tank Blitz also brings a significant UI overhaul to the series, streamlining features like tank assembly and parts organisation.

The game is already available in Canada, New Zealand, and a handful of other territories in soft-launch. If you pre-register for the global launch now you’ll earn pre-registration rewards when Super Tank Blitz goes live. These include 50 Gems, a Special Event Medal, and a Super Box.
