There aren’t many games 0ut there that involve throwing a neon spear at a hipster ice giant. In fact, we can only think of one – Lichtspeer. And right now you can pick it up for less than a buck. That’s a marvelous price for a marvelous game.
The game sees you flinging your light spear at all manner of weird enemies. There are different spears with different powers and different enemies with different patterns. Things get frantic pretty fast, but the fun kind of frantic, not the ‘we’ve left our child in the airport’ kind of frantic.
There are sixty levels to fight your way through, and six huge bosses to try and take down. It’s all gloriously nonsensical, while still managing to be a fantastic arcade blast. Here’s a trailer.
And right now you can get all of this for less than a dollar. Why not get it, call it an early Christmas present to yourself, and then use it as a tool to ignore any relatives you don’t want to talk to. Tell them you have to play to a save point, they don’t know that’s not a thing any more.
