‘Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom’ Set for a Worldwide Release Very Soon

Sonic Dash 2 - Announcement - 01

To say my colleague Clovis L. Dye, Jr. liked SEGA and Hardlight Studio’s endless runner Sonic Dash would be an understatement; he freaking loved it! So much so, in fact, that in addition to awarding the game a near-perfect score in his review, he covered almost every single one of its numerous updates and global challenges, and even named it one of the best iOS games of 2013.

With that in mind, the announcement that the game’s eagerly awaited sequel, Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom, is coming out of soft-launch and releasing worldwide in the very near future will no doubt be music to Clovis’s ears. Oh, and the 140 million or so other folks who downloaded the original title should be pretty psyched at the news, too.

Since Sonic Dash 2 has been available in select regions for a number of months, quite a few YouTubers have already had the opportunity to take the game for a spin and upload footage of it in action to their channels. To give you guys an idea of what to expect, I’ve included one such fan-made gameplay trailer below — but it’s worth noting that what you’ll see therein is still a work in progress, and that Hardlight are likely to have added extra spit and polish to every aspect of the final release version. Still, it’s looking sharp:

The press release we received didn’t mention an exact release date for Sonic Dash 2 other than “soon.” However, the wording seems to imply that the game is complete and ready for primetime, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it hit the App Store within the next week or two. What we do know for sure, though, is that Sonic Dash 2 will be a free-to-play title and feature characters and settings from the hit animated TV show Sonic Boom.
