Snake Core is a Re-Imagining of the Arcade Classic, Out Now For iPhone and iPad

Orange Pixel’s latest game, Snake Core, has just launched for iPhone and iPad. It’s an arcade-focused action blaster that takes the shape of everyone’s favorite slither-’em-up and then builds a gun-toting military shooter around it.

Rather than controlling a digital snake and snaffling apples, here you’re in control of a big line of soldiers. You build your conga line of death out of different units, with each of them contributing different skills and special moves to the whole. You can check out the trailer we’ve embedded below to get a better idea of what the game’s about.

As you can see Snake Core has the some chunky pixel graphics that Orange Pixel has become famous for, but the focus here is on creating carnage and scoring points rather than building and surviving like in Ashworld.

There are a whole bunch of different monsters and bosses for you to try and take down, and you can expect the challenge to ramp up the deeper you get into the literally linear slaughtering. Interestingly, you can play the game in either portrait or landscape mode, which should tell you all you need to know about the simplicity of the controls.

Snake Charmer

Snake Core looks set to be one of those arcade-y smash hits that are familiar but fresh in the best possible ways. It’s not just about being violent, it’s about figuring out the best path for your army and making sure you’re not colliding with your own fighters.

The game is available right now on the App Store. This one’s a premium experience, and it’s going to set you back $2.99 to pick it up. Click here and you’ll be able to download Snake Core for iPhone or iPad right this second.
