Rumor Has It ‘The Legend of Zelda’ Is Coming to Mobile

According to a new rumor from the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo’s next mobile game will be based on one of the company’s most popular and iconic IPs: The Legend of Zelda series.

The scoop claims that the game is currently in development, and that Nintendo are planning to release it at some point after Animal Crossing hits iOS and Android later this year. Further details are lacking at this time, such as whether the game’s more likely to be free-to-play (a la Miitomo and Fire Emblem Heroes) or pay-to-play (like Super Mario Run). Also up for speculation is what a mobile version of The Legend of Zelda will look and play like.

Interestingly, depending on when it releases, The Legend of Zelda could well end up going head-to-head with Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm, the sequel to Cornfox & Bros’ immensely successful Zelda-like adventure game.
