Populus Run is an interesting one. It mixes ideas from free to play casual games, throws in concepts from the likes of Fall Guys, then chucks a few fresh concepts on the top for fun. The end result is a bonkers, challenging, and pretty darn fun Apple Arcade game.
You’re controlling a horde of pedestrians who are sprinting and sliding down a track. That track is peppered with obstacles – rolling donuts, bouncing macaroons, cupcakes that flop on you from the sky – and you need to avoid them. The members of your pack essentially represent your lives – lose them all and it’s game over.
There are pipes to slide through, secrets to try and uncover, coins to collect and loads more. There’s something new on almost every level, and the game is challenging enough that you’re going to have to have your wits about you to succeed.
There’s loads to love about Populus Run. It plays by its own rules, and there’s a charm that flows through everything it does as well. Sometimes it’s going to leave you with a smile on your face, sometimes it’s going to leave you with a frown, but you’re always going to jump in for another go.
