Mario Kart Tour now has multiplayer for iPhone and iPad – everything you need to know

The multiplayer update for Mario Kart Tour for iPhone, iPad and Android finally went live over the weekend. Players have been clamouring for some PvP action since the game was first released, but now that wait is over. And we’ve got all the details you need to know right here.

There are three different ways you can play against other people in the game now. You can create local games to play with friends and other players nearby. Here you set your own rules and race type, giving you the freedom to play however you’d like.

Standard Races are the bread and butter of the MP, and see you racing against players from around the world. Everyone can get involved in these races, and the rules change on a daily basis. That should mean that every day is an exciting new challenge for you to sink your teeth into.

Finally there are special races only available to Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass subscribers. These let you compete with other Gold Pass players, and offer up some of the toughest competition. Obviously you’ll get the best rewards for competing and completing these, so they’re well worth checking out.

Time For a Race

Multiplayer has formed the bedrock of the Mario Kart experience since the first game came out for the SNES, so it’s good to see that Nintendo has finally included it in the mobile version of the game. However, for some players it might be too little too late.

The multiplayer uses friend codes, so you’ll need to share those to get online with your friends. Feel free to stick yours in the comments section below if you’d like to make some more chums to play with.
