The universe is tearing itself apart, and it’s up to you to save civilization from the uncaring terrors of the big rip. Don’t panic, we don’t mean in real life. That’s the story behind Lightracer: Ignition, which has just landed on the App Store.
The game sees you piloting an Ark through the universe, drawing power from planets as you go. You need the power to get to the center of the universe, but there are some big choices to make along the way. Not all planets are uninhabited, so you need to pick between your own survival and the lives of aliens. Which is pretty deep.
There are space battles and space wars to fight too. And characters to collect to help you along the way. Lightracer: Ignition is a mish-mash of ideas, big and small, and it looks like it could be pretty darn interesting. Here’s a trailer.
This is a game with a message, but it wraps it around a cool sci-fi setting and some idle gameplay mechanics to keep you entertained.
“My passion for both game creation and science fiction is what motivated me to make Lightracer: Ignition”, said the game’s producer, Shu Li. “Most of the world view and story setting are born out of our tactical role-playing game experiences and many plots pay tribute to classic sci-fi works such as Blade Runner, Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets, Cyberpunk, The Matrix, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
