Landscape Mode Finally Coming to Mario Kart Tour

One of the main problems we’ve always had with Mario Kart Tour is that you have to play it in portrait mode. Sure, it’s still a decent kart racer, but there’s something unnatural about playing it upright. Especially with big long phones like the newest iPhones. Thankfully that’s about to become a thing of the past.

A new update, which is set to land on the App Store tomorrow, is going to add a landscape mode to the game. That means you’re finally going to be able to play Mario Kart Tour the right way round.

Sure, you might have gotten used to playing in portrait. But you can’t tell us you’re not looking forward to being able to hold your phone in a sensible way to play the game.

There’s a trailer to show off what to expect in the new update. It doesn’t show much, to be honest, but we thought we’d embed it for you anyway. You can check it out right after this paragraph.

Mario Kart Tour has had plenty of updates since it first came out. There have been new characters, new tracks and much, much more. But this is the first one that’s going to dramatically change the way the game actually plays. And we couldn’t be more excited.

What do you think? Has this update been a long time coming for you? Or are you happy playing a racing game with slightly awkward orientation? Make sure you let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article.

If you’ve not played Mario Kart Tour before – maybe because portrait racing sounds silly to you – you can click here to grab the game from the App Store. The update allowing landscape play will go live tomorrow, July 21st.
