iOS 14.5 Out Now With PS5 and XBOX Series X Controller Support

Got a swanky new console? Want to use the controller to play mobile games? Well, you’re in luck. iOS 14.5 is out now across all supported Apple devices, and it’s brought with it support for Xbox Series X and PS5 controllers. So that’s pretty cool.

We talked about the potential for support for the latest gen controllers back in February (click on that link if you don’t believe us, jeez), but now it’s a fully fledged reality. The newly updated OS gives you plenty of customization and tweaking options when you’ve got a controller connected too.

This isn’t the first time we’ve thought current-gen controller support had been on the way, but it was nixed in an earlier version of iOS 14, potentially because it wasn’t up to scratch. Well, it certainly looks like things are decidedly scratch-worthy now.

You can also use Xbox Series X and PS5 controllers on any device running tvOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5. So, basically, if you’ve got any of the latest versions of the iPad, iPhone or AppleTV, right now you could be turning it into a fully-fledged gaming machine. That’s pretty sweet, right?

You can update your device from the settings menu right this second, so why don’t you hop off and do that and we’ll go and play some Genshin Impact with a PS5 controller like absolute bosses.
