Hyperspace Delivery Service is a Strategic, Retro Journey Through the Cosmos

Hyperspace Delivery Service is one of the most interesting new games to have landed on the App Store this week. The game is all about traversing the cosmos. Throw in some amazing retro graphics and you’re on to a winner.

You’re the captain of a delivery ship and you’ve got a new job to drop off a package. The problem is that package needs to be dropped off at the other side of the galaxy. And space travel, as we all know, is really difficult.

As well as planning the route and picking your crew, you need to fight aliens, engage in deep-space battles and deal with mad robots. Your oxygen might run out too. Oh, and your fuel. Basically everything is trying to kill you.

Well, not everything. There are friendly aliens that you can trade with and abandoned supplies that you can try and pilfer. Every choice you make impacts the lives of your crew, and your success, so you need to be smart.

The game wears a lot of its influences on its sleeve. There are shades of The Oregon Trail here, as well as more recent releases like Out There, Star Command and FTL: Faster Than Light. Don’t expect to make your delivery on the first try though – space is enormous and the game doesn’t pull its punches.

Hyperspace Delivery Service has already come out for PC and Switch, but this mobile version will cost you about half of what the home versions will. The game translates really well to touchscreen though. And being able to slip it out of your pocket and play on the go is a real boon.

So, if you fancy piloting a spaceship through an 80’s style universe, all from the comfort of the palm of your hand, you’re in luck. Click here and you can grab Hyperspace Delivery Service from the App Store right this second.
