Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor Review – Is It Any Good?

I’ve been playing HUNTER×HUNTER NEN×SURVIVOR since its release, and I have many thoughts. In my Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor Review, I’ll go through all the things I like and the things that didn’t take my fancy.

Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor Review

Let me start by saying that I love Hunter x Hunter as an anime and manga. It’s in my top three anime choices, and a show I hold truly dear to my heart. There is a gap in the market for Hunter x Hunter-inspired games, with the only other one I can think of being HUNTER×HUNTER NEN×IMPACT on PC.

So, imagine my surprise when I see a mobile game for this anime. Of course, I hit download straight away and wanted to see what it was all about.

Initial Thoughts

As I loaded the game, I realised, quite simply, that it was very plain. There are tons of characters in the world of Hunter x Hunter, and hardly any of them make an appearance. As a beginner, you obtain four of them already, and by the time I summoned 10 times on the gacha, I had everyone.

The aim of the game is to lead your team as enemies come your way, and you select skills to make you stronger. Each round is very long, and I found myself slightly bored when playing. All you do is drag your finger on the screen to avoid the enemies, while your units automatically attack.

Rounds can last 5 minutes, so you can imagine the boredom of sitting there, only moving your finger. If you lose your HP, you can watch an ad to continue, but this only happens once. If you die a second time, you lose the round. Luckily, you still earn EXP for the time playing.

Memories

One thing I do like about the game is the Memories. You obtain these from the gacha, and they give you additional abilities or buffs in battle. Each Memory is inspired by a key moment in the show. For example, Kurapika vs Uvo.

Uniqueness aside, the Memories are literally the scenes from the show. Similarly, all the art styles and designs are just the official art copied and pasted. It’s simple, that’s what I’m saying. And although there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with that, I’ve seen it all before.

Do I recommend it?

If you’re in need of a simple game, then yeah! It is still new, so developers may be adding more characters and events in future updates. Personally, I will likely stop playing. As much as I love Hunter x Hunter, the game is far too simple and laggy for me.

Instead, may I recommend Titan Regiment? It’s based on Attack on Titan, which is my all-time favourite anime and manga. It was released in December 2025, and it’s extremely well-made. I also have a feature on Why Titan Regiment Is The Best Mobile Game.

There are tons of different game modes to play, as well as weekly events and almost every cast member to collect. It takes the spot for my favourite anime-inspired game and the best mobile game at the moment. It’s great even if you haven’t seen Attack on Titan. But if that is the case, this is your sign to start watching it!
