Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall is a Hero-Collecting RPG for iPhone and iPad

Not happy with how Game of Thrones the TV series ended? Well now’s your chance to right some of those wrongs. Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall might not be set at the same time, but it’s got a lot of your favourite characters in it.

You take the role of the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. Set a few decades before the show, there are some familiar faces and names here all the same. Jon Snow might not have been born yet, but chronology-hopping weirwood trees mean that’s not too much of a problem.

There’s a good deal of tactics here – more than you find in your usual midcore RPG. You can move, choose who to attack, and unleash your special powers. And that’s on top of building up your army and defending Castle Black.

You need to collect materials to upgrade your heroes and units, and there are a number of different modes as well. Some offer better loot, some offer different characters to play with and others ask you to take down massive bosses.

The North Remembers

There’s also a story line that features the tale of the Bloodraven, a character mentioned in the books and the show. The animated cut-scenes are actually pretty entertaining, and add to the Game of Thrones-feel of the whole experience.

Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall is available right now from the App Store. It won’t cost you anything to download, but inevitably it’s full of in-app purchases as well. Click here to download Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall right now.
