Fresh from their success at 2012’s Game Connection in Paris, where they picked up the coveted ‘Best Project’ award for BADLAND, Finnish indie studio Frogmind have just unveiled a new trailer depicting the competitive multiplayer mode iOS gamers can expect to enjoy when this eagerly anticipated action-adventure title arrives on the App Store in March.

According to today’s press release, BADLAND’s local multiplayer mode will feature support for “up to four players on the same device” while pitting them against each other in “frenzied environments as they duke it out to be the last one standing.”

A deathmatch/race-based 4-player mode sounds like a ton of fun to me, but then again I’ve been completely sold on this sumptuously beautiful side-scroller ever since I clapped eyes on the first gameplay footage back in October of last year.

Here’s the official synopsis:

mp-2BADLAND is an atmospheric side-scrolling action adventure located in a gorgeous forest full of various inhabitants, trees and flowers. Although the forest looks like it’s from some beautiful fairytale, there seems to be something terribly wrong. The player controls one of the forest’s inhabitants to discover what’s going on. Through his journey he discovers astonishing amount of imaginative traps and obstacles.

BADLAND takes side-scrollers to the next level with its innovative physics based gameplay combined with the extremely beautiful atmospheric graphics and audio.
