Cubinko isn’t like most of the other match-stuff puzzlers on the App Store. It mixes together ideas from Tetris and other genre classics, tilts them around and twists them up into an intriguing and intoxicating brew. And you can grab it from the App Store right now.
The game sees you placing cubes onto a grid. Those cubes come in geometric combinations. You can twist them before you put them on the grid to try and fit them in better. If three or more cubes of the same color are touching along their straight edges, they’ll disappear.
You’re not just clearing as many as you can though. Instead you’ll see a list of cubes you need to get rid of in the corner. You’ve got a set number of moves to clear a set number of cubes. Do that and you’ll get more cubes and more moves, fail and it’s game over.
The game is slick and fun, and requires you to think a few moves ahead if you want to succeed. It’s bright and cheery too, and different enough from the other matchy puzzlers you’ve played to make it well worth checking out.
