Crying Suns is a game that wears its influences proudly on its sleeve. There are shades of FTL and Out There here, as well as plenty of new concepts. If you’re a fan of the likes of Dune or the rebooted Battlestar Galactica then you’re going to love everything this strategic roguelite has to offer.
You’re playing the commander of a fleet of space ships and you’re tasked with exploring the ruins of a fallen alien empire. Every time you play the galaxy is procedurally generated, which means every run is going to offer new surprises.
There are more than 300 different story events to experience, and you’re going to have to put the time in if you want to experience them all. Each and every playthrough is going to reveal new secrets – about the fallen empire, the universe and maybe even about you.
Crying Suns features gorgeous pixel-art graphics, as well as some deep strategic gameplay that’s going to really test your grey matter. As well as exploration, there’s ship-based combat to sink your teeth into as well. Throw in a vast and mysterious story and you’ve got a package that’s going to keep you entertained for hours and hours.
The game has already received some rave reviews since it came out a year or so ago on PC and Mac. And this mobile version has been tweaked and preened to make sure it works brilliantly on touchscreen devices.
