‘Crashlands’ Gets a Release Date (Plus Some Even Better News)

After two long years of development, Butterscotch Shenanigans’ eagerly anticipated survival-crafting RPG, Crashlands, is just about ready for prime-time. The game is currently being put through its paces by an army of beta testers, and will launch on January 21st, 2016 on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam. It’ll cost $5 on mobile platforms and $15 on Steam.

A release date for one of the most intriguing upcoming games in existence? Awesome! But wait, there’s more good news…

I’m not sure if the average reader knows the behind-the-scenes story about how Samuel Coster — one of the three brothers who run Butterscotch Shenanigans — dealt with not one, but two bouts of cancer whilst working on Crashlands? (If not, you simply must read this incredibly moving guest post by Sam over on TouchArcade.) The reason I bring it up is because Sam revealed in today’s press release that he recently got a clear PET scan, meaning he’s now completely cancer-free. Woo-hoo! What a legend! He’s kicked cancer’s ass and made what looks to be an absolutely phenomenal game.

We’ll be reviewing the heck out of Crashlands when it arrives on the App Store in the New Year. In the meantime, to stay up to date on all things Butterscotch Shenanigans, be sure to follow the guys on Twitter and/or drop by the official Crashlands site.
