Classic Metroidvania Castlevania: Symphony of the Night now Available for iPhone and iPad

Well, this is something of a turn up for the books. Last night, Konami released a port of the legendary hack-and-slash platformer Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It’s available on the App Store right now.

What’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, some of you young whippersnappers are probably asking. Well, it originally came out in 1997 for the PS1. It’s been re-released multiple times over the years, though. Oh, and it’s considered by some to be among the finest games ever made.

You play as Dracula’s son, Alucard, and it’s up to you to fight your way through a non-linear castle of monsters. Eventually you’re going to have to mash up your dad as well. There are RPG elements, new items to unlock and plenty more. Oh, and the game is absolutely massive as well.

This mobile port has a few new tricks up its sleeve as well. Thankfully this edition of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has a continue system, which is great for all of you who like to play on the bus.

You’ve probably spotted a lot of buttons on the screenshots too – don’t worry though, if you’ve got a controller for your iPhone or iPad you can use that instead. There are achievements to unlock too, if exploring a massive castle and killing the master of evil wasn’t enough for you.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is out right now for iPhone and iPad. Click here and you’ll be able to grab it from the App Store, where it’ll set you back $2.99.
