The iFriday Roundup, No. 30

Friday Freebies

Whether you’re a fan of action puzzles, pirates, or just plain good games, this is going to be a great weekend because PirateGunner is free for the plundering! Check out our review from last year if you’re not already a fan.

Don’t forget that Stop Those Fish (our review) is still going free after receiving a balance update, and while we missed Star Warfare: Alien Invasion when it released, you’d better rush to grab it while it doesn’t cost you a penny!

President’s Day Sales

More proof that the first thing you should do when there’s a holiday coming up is rush out to the App Store and see what’s on sale! Well, okay, Speedbump Studios may just be celebrating the release of Robot Gladi8or by dropping the price of Dream:scape (our review) to $0.99, but E.A. are definitely throwing a President’s Day bash with a $0.99 price drop for Dead Space (our review).

It’s Still Valentine’s Day at iFanzine

The rest of the world may have moved on to President’s Day, but don’t forget we’re still running our Valentine’s Giveaway through Tuesday! If you’ve got a Twitter account, find out what to do here for your chance to win a copy of Monster Wars, Outfoxed, The Four Hats, Hyper Snake, or Raid Leader!

Hark, Here’s Some Ravenmark News!

Witching Hour Studios are still hard at work on the new Kaysan campaign for Ravenmark, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to discuss multiplayer and a sequel! If this is the first you’ve heard of Ravenmark, be sure to check out our in-depth review of this stellar TBS and our interview with the developers!

A Whale of an Update

ustwo’s Whale Trail had to be one of 2011’s most charming games, and it just got filled out with plenty of additional content this week. If you thought keeping that little whale alive didn’t get hard enough after a few minutes in the original endless mode, the tough-as-nails “Baron’s Revenge” challenge level pack should appeal!

TOME Studios Take a Bayonet to Danger Alliance

TOME promised lots of content updates to Danger Alliance: Battles and they continue to deliver! In their most recent blog post, TOME offer a lengthy description of the newest unit that plays up the game’s kooky alternate history scenario.

Dungeon Crawling Made Convenient

Another thing we asked for were bigger virtual buttons and working sliders for skill selection in Dungeon Crawlers. Well, wouldn’t you know it — Drowning Monkeys were more than happy to oblige! Performance enhancements and a way to speed up the game are also on tap, so you’ll definitely want to fire up iTunes and give this update a download if you’re already a fan.

Anoix 3D Gets More Levels

We still don’t know quite how it should be pronounced, but Unusualsoft’s most unusual take on Arkanoid just received a content update that brings its total up to 84 levels. That looks to be a whopping 21 more than it had before, but you’ll still want to bring your own iTunes playlist to this one!

Adventure Bar Story Gets Official English Site

It seems iOS is becoming the best system for JRPG fans since the Sony PlayStation, and Adventure Bar Story looks set to help that trend. Just after we published our interview with ZigZaGame’s Ryan Kelley we saw that developer Rideon Games has an English site where you can learn more about the game and its cast. Adventure Bar Story should hit the App Store on February 28.

Gorilla Gondola Update and Soundtrack

We probably weren’t the only ones who asked for bona fide progress-salvaging checkpoints in Gorilla Gondola, and Electric Pixel Factory heard loud and clear! They just pushed through an update to that effect, and rebalanced progression goals to boot. That’s not all: check out the soundtrack reel that just popped up on EPF’s YouTube channel as our “video” of the week below. Could this presage a full soundtrack release? The wait to find out has us going ape! Check back on the other side of the weekend for a “Concept Art Corner” feature on Gorilla Gondola too.

Are you an iOS videogame developer or publisher with a cool update, video, or other news that you want to get out to the masses? iFanzine probably has an eye on you already, but don’t hesitate to get in touch via our Twitter feed or Contact page. We want to fill our iFriday Roundups with all your beautiful stuff!
