Galaxy on Fire 2 In-Depth Review

You know how everyone's been clamoring for a sci-fi RPG lately? Fish Labs has an answer for that. While there's nary a hit point to be found in Galaxy on Fire 2, its superbly delivered story and characterization, incredible depth, and overall genre-defying appeal should fit the bill for anyone interested in seeing what happens when roleplaying and adventure are mixed with a little 3D space action.

ILLUSIA Trailer Released!

Gamevil, the makers of ZENONIA are putting the finishing touches to a new side scrolling casual action RPG containing all the core elements of traditional role playing games presented in visually appealing anime style graphics.

Shining Core Review

At first plagued by a game-crashing bug and unreviewable, Shining Core has benefited from an update that makes it run smoothly on third and fourth generation iDevices at least. Second generation iDevice users will still want to be cautious about picking this one up, and it's a shame because this Match 3/RPG genre mashup from ZLE Game, Inc., turned out to be surprisingly compelling.

Zenonia Retroview

"Retroviews" are becoming all the rage on reviews sites nowadays, and while the iPhone is still a young platform, it feels like there's already a decade's worth of titles for gamers to choose from. Therefore we thought it would be neat to take a look back at Zenonia, the 2009 Gamevil release that put the Action RPG indelibly on the iOS map. Does it still have what it takes to compete in today's RPG-crowded Appstore?

Yslandia Out Now!

Following its smash-hit performance in France and a thorough beta testing stint in Canada, Yslandia, BulkyPix and Moving Player's ambitious stab at bringing a fully-featured MMORPG to iPhone, is at last available. Sean Koch, iFanzine's go to guy for anything and everything RPG-related, recently spent some hands-on time with (or should that be in?) Yslandia, and declared the game to be "close to perfection..."

Seed 2: Vortex of War Review

Seed 2's interface could stand some improvement and it's chock full of the ubiquitous fetch quests that are quickly wearing out their welcome in iPhone RPGs, but if you can get past its flaws you'll find a very deep and fulfilling action RPG thanks to an engaging character development system and excellent overall polish.

Rimelands: Hammer of Thor Review

Don't go into this collaboration from Dicework and Crescent Moon expecting an intense story, but they've hit the ball out of the park in every other way that matters to RPG fans. Whether you're more into the Western RPG's quest-based adventuring, the JRPG's structured turn-based battle systems, or getting your noggin tested in tough contests of strategy, Rimelands has you covered.

First Look: Zombies: City of the Dead

Like Laurel and Hardy, spaghetti and meatballs, or Mario and Luigi, the world is full of things that go well together. Zombie games and iPhone are another such match made in heaven. Or should that be hell?. Anyhow, here's another title which will pit the player against hordes of undead worth keeping a watchful eye on...

Xenome: Episode I Review

The best way to describe Nine Pound Studios' first release might be "a MMORPG without the MMO." Its core mechanics should feel familiar to veterans of games in the World of Warcraft vein, but if you're not into the style of combat around which Xenome revolves, it'll probably feel like a long crawl despite its most interesting sci-fi world.

Rimelands: Hammer of Thor out now!

Rimelands: Hammer of Thor, the eagerly anticipated new title from Crescent Moon and Dicework Games is now available on the App Store. iFanzine's resident RPG expert Sean Koch is as we speak putting the game through its paces for a full review. In the meantime here are a few more details, screenshots and an impressive trailer to help whet your appetite for this epic adventure

Crimson Gem Saga In-Depth Review

In celebration of its first bugfix update, this meaty game gets an equally meaty review. But if you'd rather just cut to the chase: If the acronym "JRPG" means something positive to you, get ready to make some room on your iPhone.
