‘Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom’ and Apple Watch Companion App Out Now

Sonic Dash 2 - Announcement - 01 (1)

Wow, when SEGA said Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom would be releasing “soon” they really meant it. Mere days after that announcement, the eagerly awaited endless runner has arrived on the App Store! I’ve only had a cursory play of it so far, but I reckon fans will be pleased with the plethora of new and updated features this sequel has over the original Sonic Dash. The most noteworthy of which is definitely the new ‘team running’ mode that allows you to switch between three characters during a run.

SEGA and Hardlight Studio have also launched an Apple Watch companion app alongside the main game. Basically, it’s a Sonic-themed pedometer that measures the number of steps you take in real life and then doles out in-game rewards accordingly. If you dig Sonic Dash 2 and happen to own one of Apple’s swanky timepieces, the app sounds like a novel way to (sort of) keep playing, even when you’re not.

My colleague Clovis L. Dye, Jr (aka one of the world’s biggest Sonic Dash fans) is putting Sonic Dash 2 through its paces as we speak and should have a full review ready soon, so stay tuned for that. If you’re the impatient sort, you can hit the link below to get the game right now.
