We hailed Sage Fusion as a “science fiction masterpiece” in our 5 star review of the game, gushing over its superb Super Mario RPG-esque battle mechanics, beautiful hand drawn artwork and phenomenal writing, so the fact that Kidalang have just submitted the sequel to Apple for approval has us very excited indeed.

All going well, Sage Fusion 2 will hit the App Store – as well as BlackBerry World – on the 14th of August 2013, and Kidalang are hoping to get the hype train rolling today by releasing a slew of promotional material including a plot synopsis, gameplay details, screenshots, and an official trailer — all of which you can check out below.

First up here’s an introduction to the game’s story, its main characters and the setting

screen2Set in a futuristic universe in which artificial intelligence is considered religious taboo, Sage Fusion 2 tells the adventure of a businessman and his bodyguard who descent to an underground world, trying to get back their reportedly stolen spaceship after it fell and crashed in the middle of the city — an accident behind which lies a conspiracy that involves the galactic government, the military, the church, and centuries-old historical legend.

Apparently SF2 acts not only as the sequel to the previously released Sage Fusion game, but also as the perfect jumping-on point for new players, since it’s designed and written in such a way that those who haven’t tried the original can still enjoy it 100% confusion-free. Meanwhile, returning players can look forward to a longer playtime (SF2 is roughly twice as long as the first game), more areas to explore, more engaging battles and action scenes, more interesting puzzles, and faster-paced story progression.

ETA: Sage Fusion 2 is expected to arrive on the App Store August 14th 2013, with a $2.99 price-tag. In the meantime, be sure to check out Kidalang’s site, Facebook page and Twitter feed for more information.
