We’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the progress of Nicoll Hunt and I Fight Bears‘ Fist of Awesome ever since the delightfully crazy retro-styled beat ’em up blew past its Kickstarter target last December — eventually raising over 200% of its original goal, no less!
While Fist of Awesome has slipped past its intended March release date, iOS, Android and OUYA iterations of the game are reportedly still on track to release later this Spring, with a special multiplayer-enabled ‘Grizzly Edition’ for PC/MAC to follow shortly thereafter.
In anticipation of the upcoming release(s), I Fight Bears have unveiled an all-new teaser trailer (which you can check out below), as well as the following official synopsis of the game:
FIST OF AWESOME is a time-travelling-lumberjack-em-up of epic proportions. It stars Tim Burr as a man out of time, caught up in a needlessly convoluted plot to enslave humanity by populating history with homicidal wild animals. FIST OF AWESOME gleefully conjures up nostalgic memories of the likes of Final Fight, Streets of Rage, and other fondly remembered brawlers from the 1990s golden age of scrolling beat ’em ups.
