EA Mobile has been making headlines more for removing classic games from the App Store than releasing new stuff lately, but they do still have some pretty exciting titles coming down the pipeline. Case in point: Need for Speed No Limits, an upcoming mobile-exclusive installment of the long-running racing franchise that is being worked on by the creators of Real Racing 3, Firemonkeys.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on a release date* for Need for Speed No Limits, other than a promise that it’s “coming soon.” EA, however, are beginning to rev up the marketing machine for the game today with the following blurb and snazzy new teaser trailer:
Be reckless. Be respected. Need for Speed No Limits is an all new installment of the legendary racing series, built from the ground up for mobile devices. Created by Firemonkeys, the team behind the blockbuster Real Racing 3, Need for Speed No Limits challenges players to leave their mark on the streets of Blackridge as they collect and personalize a fleet of the world’s hottest cars. Coming soon.
* Need for Speed No Limits soft-launched on the Taiwanese App Store earlier this year. Early reactions have been somewhat mixed, with some players disappointed by the fact that it’s a freemium affair. I’m still holding out hope No Limits will be as fun as it looks though, especially since some of some of my all-time favorite iOS racing games — the aforementioned Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 8: Airborne, to name a couple — are also FTP.
