‘Guitar Hero’ Meets ‘Plants vs. Zombies’ in ‘Loud on Planet X’

Pop Sandbox — a Toronto based development studio — recently debuted their last game project: Loud on Planet X, a game they’ve described as a mixture of Guitar Hero meets Plants Vs. Zombies. In the game you must defend your sound stage from a horde of aliens by tapping the music’s rhythm, while using a range of odd attacks including strobe lights — fog machines — and even the onstage band. Included will be an assortment of music from indie bands such as: Tegan and Sara, METZ, Metric, Lights, July Talk, F*cked Up, Cadence Weapon, Austra and more (including the ability to play as them all in-game).

However — in order to finish the game they’ve actively been working on since early 2014 — the people at Pop Sandbox recently turned to the Kickstarter community with a request for $50k (CAD), of which over $22k has so far been secured. Gathering the entire amount requested will greatly aid Pop Sandbox by not only enabling them to not defer their staff’s payment, but furthermore by allowing them to reach a variety of platforms as well. However — with roughly $28k still needed — there’s still much work to be done if they’re going to cross the finish line before their June 5th deadline, especially if people hope to see any of Loud on Planet X’s stretch goals be achieved (such as Wii U availability).

Currently a pledge of just $8 is all that’s needed to secure your very own copy of Loud on Planet X on virtually any platform available (except for iOS, sadly, due to iTunes’ policies on the matter). Meanwhile — for anyone extra devoted to indie-bands blasting aliens — additional rewards include: art books, an actual vinyl soundtrack, your name listed in the game’s credits, a backer T-Shirt, appearing in the game itself, and more! Finally — for those with a lot of spare cash on hand — exceptionally high end backers will not only get to have dinner with the entire Pop Sandbox staff in Toronto, they’ll also receive regular calls from the game’s staff regarding Loud on Planet X’s current progress.
