FDG Entertainment and Cornfox & Bros.’ ambitious Zeldainspired action RPG Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas is undoubtedly top of many an iOS gamer’s list of most anticipated upcoming releases. And while we still don’t have a solid release date for the oft-delayed game (gah!), the developers were in touch to share some big news today.

Here’s the dealio: Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu (otherwise known as “the John Williams of video games”) and Kenji Ito (of Mana and SaGa fame) will be handling composition duties for Oceanhorn. This announcement is bound to get a lot of folks more excited about this upcoming game than they already were, but probably none more so than Heikki Repo, Creative Director of Oceanhorn, who had this to say:

The power behind Uematsu’s and Ito’s compositions is incredible. Their songs will open us new ways to reach players’ hearts. It is mind blowing that a small developer team like us gets a chance to work with such legends. Together with the best video game composers in the world, we will make Oceanhorn a journey you won’t forget.

ETA: According to today’s press release, Oceanhorn is still on track to release “later in 2013.” In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye on the game’s official site to stay updated on all the latest developments.
