Imangi Studios’ ‘Temple Run’ Series Crosses the Milestone of One Billion Downloads

Now, I was aware that the Temple Run games were enjoying major success, but this is just something else! Indie game developer Imangi Studios — who, it’s worth mentioning, started off as a husband-and-wife team working out of their apartment — today announced that the Temple Run series has blazed past one billion downloads. Crazy.

As the press release we received notes, the Temple Run titles are the second mobile game series ever to achieve this incredible milestone (the first was Angry Birds, in case you’re wondering). That figure includes downloads of Temple Run and Temple Run 2 across both iOS and Android platforms, but doesn’t take into account the various licensed spin-off games Imangi have released like Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz.

Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios, had this to say about the (ahem) runaway success he and his company have enjoyed so far:

Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out. We’re incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games.
