‘The Deer God’ Reaches a Lofty 1.5 Million Downloads

Confession time: I haven’t gotten around to picking up a copy of The Deer God yet. Which is weird. I’m a huge fan of Crescent Moon Games’ output, and I distinctly recall being in awe of this game’s insanely beautiful pixel art graphical style when I first saw it announced. I guess it must’ve slipped my mind to actually download the thing when it hit the App Store.

Still, it’s not like missing out on a sale from me has hurt The Deer God‘s success any. Crescent Moon and Blowfish Studios announced this week that the game has racked up a staggering 1.5 million downloads to date. (That figure is a tally of purchases for Xbox One, PC and iOS/Android-based mobile devices.) The press release I received also mentioned that The Deer God will be making the jump to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita early next year, so it doesn’t seem like the game’s popularity is going to slow down anytime soon.

As I say, I’ve not tried the game yet myself, so I can’t speak to its quality. The reviews have been pretty positive for the iOS version though, with Touch Arcade calling it “truly special” and App Advice saying, “I highly recommend (it) if you like a challenging mix of infinite runner, survival, adventure, platforming, and RPG in a single game.” You know, I think I’m finally convinced that I need to check out the game. If you fancy doing the same there’s a link below.
