Award-Winning Puzzler ‘Shadowmatic’ Goes Free for the First Time Ever

It’s been an amazing couple of weeks on the big-name iOS games going free front. Recently, we’ve seen the likes of Radiation Island and Infinity Blade III shrug off their premium price tags — and now Triada Studio’s Shadowmatic is the latest must-have title to drop to $0.00 for the first time ever.

No word on why Shadowmatic has gone free, but if I had to guess — given the timing — I’d say Apple will probably announce it as their Free App of the Week later today.

For the uninitiated, Shadowmatic‘s App Store blurb does a decent job of neatly summing up what it’s all about: “Shadowmatic is an imagination-stirring puzzle where you rotate abstract objects in a spotlight to find recognizable silhouettes in projected shadows, relevant to the surrounding environment. The game combines stunning visuals with relaxing and captivating gameplay.

In addition to winning an Apple Design Award, Shadowmatic scored rave reviews from pretty much every media outlet under the sun, with the Guardian calling it “fantastically original” and TIME saying “it’s like a mind-bending shadow-puppet spectacle.”

Given all the acclaim Shadowmatic has received, I’m kind of embarrassed to admit I actually haven’t gotten around to playing it yet — but I’m definitely going to rectify that fact during this free promotion. If you find yourself in the same boat as me, hit the link below to snag a complimentary copy of the game.
