Angry Birds Spin-Off “Bad Piggies” Lands on the App Store September 27th!

Well, this was bound to happen eventually… Angry Birds’ arch-enemies are getting their very own spin-off game! Catchily titled Bad Piggies, Rovio’s pseudo-sequel to the phenomenally successful Angry Birds will flip the script by letting gamers play as the franchise’s grinning, curly-tailed bad guys.

“There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story?” says Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes.”

Rovio promise Bad Piggies will feature “all new, never-before-seen gameplay”, which lines up with what Fast Company — who were lucky enough to get an exclusive sneak peek at the game recently — have to say:  “The game is set in the same universe as its counterpart, but it indeed feels like an effort by Rovio to parlay the pigs, which have a loyal following of their own, into a completely new brand for the company. The swine are stranded on a desert island and have to build vehicles and contraptions to make their way to the delicious eggs that they can’t seem to get enough of.”
